I hated it so much that I hardly had any photos of how I looked in my teenage years.
My jawline was basically non-existent.
It sloped down without any definition and my chin was just as bad.
It was really getting me down so I dived into the wealth of articles on the internet looking for an answer.
I must have read hundreds of articles on jawline exercise in search of an answer and while they made a small difference, they weren’t getting me to where I wanted to be.
You know, that Superman jawline that every guy wants!
One day, when I was around 15 or 16 I realized there was this one thing that separated the guys with nice strong jawlines, from me and everyone else struggling in the jawline department.
The people I looked up to who did have chiseled and sculpted jawlines BREATHED THROUGH THEIR NOSE!
And those who didn’t, breathe through their mouths! It didn’t take me long to put two and two together and realize I was a mouth breather!
So, here’s what I did.
I decided to make breathing through my nose a priority…
…and do you know what?
It worked!
I mean, that is what it's for, well, that and smelling.
The mouth has a bunch of other functions like speaking and eating but it is much better for your body and your jawline to focus on nose breathing.
I carried on with some of the jawline exercises I found online but breathing and focusing on breathing through my nose seemed to really make a difference.
It was around this time when I was about 22 years old, I started to get a bunch of comments from people asking me how I got my jawline.
That’s when I made my eighth video for my channel…
…Tips to achieve a nice jawline.
And it blew up!
First of all, it’s an instant fix and requires no effort, time, or equipment.
Stand up straight with your chin at 45 degrees or just over and pull your shoulders back.
You’ll instantly see a difference as your neck and jaw muscles engage to stabilize your head.
But my next tip was the one that completely changed the game for me.
Yes, chewing gum helps build a more masculine jaw.
Just by continually chewing gum, bubble gum, or whatever it is you like, you can give your jaw muscles a workout to get a more masculine pronounced jawline.
It was while I was giving out this advice and going through my comments that I noticed someone talking about something called MEWING.
Well, it grabbed my attention so I started to look more into what it was, where it came from, and if it would help me get a better jawline.
It did not disappoint!
So, after a little research I found out that mewing was discovered by a British father and son team of orthodontists called John and Mike Mew.
Who also happened to be the founders of a channel called Orthotropics, and left the comment about mewing in the first place.
So John and Mike Mew, came from a long line of orthodontists that went back over 100 years.
They recognized a pattern.
They found that people, especially young people who followed this pattern had straighter teeth, better forward growth of their jawline (no sloping), and an overall better facial structure.
This is when they decided to share this pattern with the world and called it mewing after their shared last name!
They broke mewing down into three simple steps to make it accessible for everyone.
Proper swallowing…
…hard chewing…
…and perhaps the most important thing of all, correct tongue posture!
(See, I told you posture was important!)
Two out of these three I found on my own…
…posture and hard chewing, without even really knowing what I was doing.
So, let me break it down for you now.
First, we have proper swallowing.
This involves chewing up your food properly into a paste and sweeping it to the back of your mouth with your tongue.
A lot of people have developed a bad habit of sort of sucking their food down.
It’s usually a bad habit learned in childhood.
This might not seem like much but it’s been proven to negatively affect your jaw growth and even leads to malocclusion which is a fancy way of saying backward growth of your teeth.
So practice chewing up your food properly, moving it to the back of your mouth with your tongue, and THEN swallowing it down.
Second, we have hard chewing.
What’s interesting here is the history behind this.
Archeologists discovered hundreds of skulls from thousands of years ago and realized that almost all of them shared some common features…
…they had perfectly straight teeth and great facial structure.
The only reason they could find for this was the ancient diet.
In ancient times, there wasn’t all this soft, overly processed food. People were eating a much harder diet that required much more chewing.
It makes perfect sense really. Why would your jaw grow and develop if it’s not getting any kind of workout when you eat?
The best cure for this in this day and age is to find harder food to eat that gives your jaw the workout it needs!
You could try and eat like a caveman but it’s much easier to simply chew lots of gum.

For those of you who watch my content, you’ll have heard me talk about this before…
…but that’s only because I think it is SO important.
Proper tongue posture will give you literally instant results and it’s really easy to do.
All you have to do is press your tongue to the roof of your mouth at all times.
You especially want to press it against the back third of the roof of your mouth.
And there’s some pretty cool science as to why this works.
Up until you’re about 25 years old, the cartilage and fissures in your face have not fully developed and hardened.
So up until then you can effectively condition and reform the shape of them with time under tension and pressure.
This helps reshape them in a way that promotes a strong and manly jawline.
If all you’re doing is sitting around, slouched over, with bad posture, not working at your facial and tongue muscles, you end up with a sloping jawline, nerd neck, and everything just becomes soft and sloping…
…believe me I know. I was there.
If you want a top tip, think about the position your tongue is in when you finish a proper swallow…
…that’s where it should be all the time.
At the least it should be resting there at all times but for the best results, you should be applying a bit of pressure.
Try it yourself and you’ll see an immediate improvement in your submental triangle.
That’s the area under your jaw.

I’ll level with you.
It can take years to see massive forward growth but I can promise you it will come.
If you do these three things every single day, you’ll start to see the payoff in a big way.
If you’re under 25, you still have time to improve your facial structure before it’s kind of set in stone…
…but these tips will still work if you’re over 25. They just might take a little longer.
Personally, I started at 15 but hopefully you can see, it’s worked for me and it can and will work for you too.

Make sure you are swallowing properly.
Practice proper tongue posture.
Of course, you’ll always be slightly limited by your genetics (mine aren’t great)...
