This is why the original JAWLINER is not dangerous!
Let us take a closer look...
In recent years, numerous different products have come onto the market on the subject of jaw muscle training. Unfortunately, not all of them are as harmless as they seem. In the following article, we would like to explain why many Jawline trainers are anything but healthy for your body.
The Tooth Problem
Essentially, there are two different jaw trainers: The most well-known jawline trainer is used in the front of the mouth between the incisors. The problem: Incisors are naturally designed for cutting food, not chewing hard, resistant foods, so they are not at all suited to the high pressure of a jaw trainer. This incorrect use puts unnecessary stress on the incisors, and in the worst case, can lead to serious long-term damage. The JAWLINER, on the other hand, uses the molars to chew on. The molars are naturally designed for chewing on hard and resistant foods. Therefore, they are ideal for resistant jaw muscle training.
The TMJ Problem
Experiments by orthodontists have clearly shown that the degree of stress on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) depends on how wide the mouth opens and closes during exercise. When the mouth is opened and closed widely, the TMJ has to dislocate and re-adjust at times. Because the jaw ball is located in the front of the mouth, passes a certain size and the training movement involves opening the mouth widely, the jaw joint has to dislocate and retract under constant load from the jaw trainer. This is a considerable wear and tear on the joint. Jaw cracking, wear and tear of the joint cartilage and jaw pain are the result. Numerous orthodontists have already given their feedback on social media platforms.
Because the JAWLINERS sit on the molars and are not particularly high, the mouth only has to be opened and closed slightly during training. The jaw joint remains in its natural range of motion and withstands the pressure without any problems. Chewing on the JAWLINER is indistinguishable for the TMJ from chewing on a hard piece of meat. This makes jaw muscle training with the JAWLINER a natural way to keep the jaw in shape - not any more unhealthy than eating hard food.
Major Certificates
Many jawline trainers come from China or other countries and it is often unclear if, or which, safety and hygiene standards are met in their production. As we are a German company, we are subject to the strictest guidelines! Our JAWLINER has been tested, awarded and certified several times. All our JAWLINERS are made of 100% BPA and PVC free German food grade silicone. Our production is FDA certified and the individual deliveries are regularly tested and certified by the PICA Institute from Berlin. Since 2021, our JAWLINER as well as the packaging have been inspected and awarded by the Bavarian Health Office.
Dr. Andrew Huberman about hard chewing gum
In this video, Dr Andrew Huberman talks about the importance of jaw and facial training for overall improved well-being and appearance.
He explicitly talks about chewing on particularly hard gum to train and develop the jaw muscles.
Here you can see that jaw muscle training not only produces an attractive jawline but can also be beneficial for health and well-being.
Why jaw muscle training can be important!
The topic of jaw muscle training became worldwide known through the two orthodontists Dr. John Mew and his son Dr. Mike Mew. They see the cause of many medical problems such as misaligned teeth, misaligned jaws or jaws that are too small in size in the fact that nowadays we eat mainly soft food and no longer make sufficient use of our jaw and facial muscles. To counteract this, the two Mews specifically recommend training the masseter muscle by regularly chewing on hard things. With their specially created "Mewing" method, they show how you can change the shape of your face, especially by positioning your tongue correctly at a young age.

Are jawline trainer JAWLINERs dangerous?
original JAWLINER are unlike Jawline balls designed to be used on the molars and therefore harmless to health. The molars are designed for hard chewing anyway and are therefore not more stressed. Therefore, they do not create such an extreme lifting effect on the jaw joint as Jawline balls (normal jawline trainers), which are used between the incisors.
Conclusion: Original JAWLINER from Germany have been specially developed as a healthy jawline trainer to revolutionize the controversial and unfortunately sometimes unhealthy Jawline trainer market.
-
Are JAWLINERs dangerous for teeth?
originale JAWLINERs are specially designed NOT for incisors but for molars. The molars are intended for crushing hard food anyway. The food silicone of the JAWLINER is therefore totally harmless for the molars. Unfortunately, other jawline trainers used between the incisors are very unhealthy for them, because incisors are not designed for hard resistance.

Can you get TMJ from jawline trainers?
If you use the wrong jawline trainer then unfortunately yes!
Many jawline trainers such as Jawline Balls cause too much leverage on the jaw joint during training and can cause TMJ.
Make sure to use only tested jawline trainers like original JAWLINER and to train only in moderation. 10-15 minutes of training every other day is considered safe.
-
How long can I train jawline so that it is still healthy?
Too much / long training of the masseter muscle can lead to undesirable health consequences.
As with any sport, moderate training is not dangerous but rather healthy.
10-15 minutes of jawline training every other day is the recommendation.
-
Jaw pain due to jawline training?
Jaw pain due to Jawline training is possible. This can have two causes:
- too long and intensive training (only 10-15 minutes of training every other day is recommended)
- using wrong, dangerous Jawline trainers (only use tested Jawline trainers like original JAWLINER, which exert only low leverage force on the jaw joint)
-
Is it healthy to exercise jaw / masseter / jawline?
As with all sports activities, it is important to find the right balance.
Too little training is unhealthy, and so is too much.
For jaw training, 10-15 minutes of training every other day is recommended.
-
Which Jawline trainers are certified healthy tested?
When buying jawline trainers, be sure to check whether and which tests, certificates are available.
Often the jaw trainers are not from reputable brands and are sold by dubious no name manufacturers from China without health testing in Europe / USA.
Unfortunately, there are also some Jawline trainers (Jawline balls) that are harmful to the jaw joint.
By far the most tested Jawline trainer on the market comes from the German brand: JAWLINER

Jawline trainer what do doctors say?
Dr Andrea Jacob has published a very interesting video on her YouTube channel about the JAWLINER. She is a fan of training one's own jaw muscles. However, she stresses that she would not recommend the JAWLINER if you have known TMJ problems, jaw pain or any pre-existing jaw condition. We strongly agree with this. If you are unsure whether jaw muscle training is a good option for you, please consult your orthodontist.
